No, you dont need to donate atleast '5 Gbp'. 

Last week or two weeks ago one of the mods said you need to donate 5 gbp to get the tag. Don't remember who it was but i'm 100% sure. I know there was a time where you could spend as much as you want but i think its true if a mod says that.
