kdr723
So, no hardware or software changes. I try to boot up my pc and the BIOS appears to work fine, but as soon as it starts to try to load Windows, it goes to a black screen (and never comes off of it). I can't even boot in safe mode because if I try, I get the same black screen before I can even choose which safe mode to use. Any suggestions? I can't try to boot/fix using a cd or flash drive until I can buy one big enough to fit in Windows onto it.
OmgImGay
Is this a new PC? Try the vga/dvi port on the motherboard

kdr723
Is this a new PC?Try the vga/dvi port on the motherboard No, it's about 3 years old. No problems at all until now. If I spam F9 before the boot I can use the windows diagnostic tool, so Im trying that now. That's all I can do without getting a black screen. OmgImGay
Try disconnecting some hardware from the PSU. Try to see if something is taking more juice than usual.
sK~
I had somewhat the same issue a couple of weeks ago... The "Starting Windows" screen would appear for around 2 - 5 seconds in, then it would freeze and my computer would restart. Just had to end up reformatting but im not sure you're having the same issue.
Emiiru
eh sounds like the bootloader, which you would need access to cmd for. (Or just repair Windows)
kdr723
I was finally able to run the system repair but to no avail. Root cause found: ----------------------- No OS files found in disk Repair action: partition table repair Result: Failed. Error code = 0x490 Time taken = 34601 ms ------------------------- I also tried to use system restore but it's claiming I don't have any restore points when I know I do. Is my HDD just failing or something? bootrec.exe /scanOS also indicates that there are 0 windows installations. Yeah I actually just had the same problem, I don't know how but I tried booting into the hdd Again and suddenly it worked. I would imagine there is some programs you can boot from and fix the boot manager with them. Ie something like adding boot manager while booted on cd, surely there would be such tools
