May 3, 2026 · by Feary
This issue is due to corrupted Windows files necessary for the tool to work. You can try the steps below to try and fix the issue but in some cases only a full clean reinstall of your OS fixes it.
- Open an elevated Command Prompt by typing CMD in the search field, right clicking the result and choosing Run as Administrator.
- Run the following lines one by one.
sc config winmgmt start= disabled net stop winmgmt Winmgmt /salvagerepository %windir%\System32\wbem Winmgmt /resetrepository %windir%\System32\wbem sc config winmgmt start= auto
- Fully shut down your PC and start it up
- Open a file browser and paste the following line in the address field:
%windir%\System32\wbem\repository
- Rename the whole folder to repository.old
- Go back to CMD and run the following line again:
sc config winmgmt start= auto
- Fully shut down your PC and start it up
- You can try running
chkdsk sfc /scannow
to repair windows corrupted files too.
